Although Blessed Sacrament Church does not have a patron saint, the congregation celebrates feast days every Sunday.

Eucharistic Celebration

As per the Archdiocese of Miami, Fr. Robert Tywoniak, who serves as the pastor at the local church, stated that every Sunday is their feast day because they celebrate the Eucharist.

Bread and wine that have been consecrated as part of the Eucharist are counted among the seven sacraments, which are like conduits through which the favor of God flows.

Nonetheless, because it represents both the body and blood of Christ, the Eucharist is regarded as the most important of the seven sacraments.

"Deep thankfulness" is how Fr. Tywoniak describes Communion when he does workshops for the faithful. "It's like a river of appreciation pouring from the bottom of our hearts," he said.

He agreed, however, that the word, or any description, cannot adequately describe what transpires on a spiritual level during the Eucharist.

Moreover, Britannica stated that Roman Catholic doctrine upholds the early idea of the Eucharist as a sacrifice in its teaching on the Mass. It has steadfastly claimed that the Mass repeats the rite that Jesus instructed his disciples to repeat.

The ceremony reportedly commemorates Christ's first sacrifice. A meaningful remembrance of his death also makes the crucifixion present.

The purpose of the teaching on the real presence is to underline the close relationship between Jesus and the communicant.

Blessed Sacrament Church

According to the archdiocese, Blessed Sacrament Church was founded in 1960, just two years after the Diocese of Miami was created. The fledgling group held its first Mass in a restaurant before moving to a funeral home.

In 1963, the members of the congregation celebrated the dedication of their very own church. They constructed a bell tower with three bells in 1977, followed by a social hall five years later. In 1996, the church building had a significant repair. The interior was gutted, and only the roof and walls were retained.

The sanctuary was relocated from the northernmost part to the westernmost part of the building. This enabled the early sunlight to shine through the new faceted glass walls installed in the atrium.

Alterations were also made to the seating, which went from the traditional nave configuration to a fan-like layout. The new format is intended to make worshipers in even the farthest rows feel like they are closer to the sanctuary as well as to one another.

As a Eucharist-dedicated parish, Blessed Sacrament focuses most of its ministry on the Mass. Members act as greeters and ushers during worship, sing, and perform instruments. Some, moreover, visit hospitalized individuals as extraordinary Eucharistic ministers.

However, the oldest ministry at Blessed Sacrament is the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which provides food and other assistance to the needy. It has evolved into a regional society chapter, with the different deanery parishes cooperating.

The parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Parish want to build a Christ-centered community that is unified in its commitment to service and sincerely devoted to Jesus.

They aspire to be a welcoming and compassionate parish in which the skills and abilities of all members, young and old, are acknowledged and gratefully utilized to sate the needs of others.
