Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual celebration of the accomplishments of African Americans and an opportunity to recognize their crucial role in the history of the United States.
The African American History Month evolved from 'Negro History Week,' which was the brainchild of eminent historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans.
Since 1976, every president of the United States has formally recognized February as Black History Month.
