New Birth Baptist Church hosts Faith in Florida's voter kickoff for Miami-Dade

As early voting opens in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, the Faith in Florida held a voter kickoff event at the New Birth Baptist Church in Miami, Florida.

7 News Miami reported that the key races have begun in South Florida, with over 20 polling locations in the counties of Miami-Dade and Monroe.

It also said that the voter kickoff event happened Monday, Aug. 8, at New Birth Baptist Church, organized by the Faith in Florida. 

New Birth Baptist Church

As per its website, the New Birth Baptist Church is a church that believes in the Word of God and that Jesus Christ is Lord. It calls itself and perfect place for imperfect people and is a part of the Cathedral of Faith International.

The church follows the ordinances of Baptism and Holy Communion.

Bishop Victor Tyrone Curry

According to the church page, it is a church led by Bishop Victor T. Curry, D. Min, D.Div., the church's founder.

The church page says Bishop Curry is a "pastor, preacher, author, teacher, and social activist." Before the church's foundation, he served as the pastor of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for seven years.

Through the pastor's leadership, the church is now an extensive organization with its own radio station, Christian academy, Bible institute, and community development corporation.

He is also a founding moderator of the Progressive Kingdom Baptist Association of the Florida General Baptist Convention, Inc. He is also a Bishop under the International Bishops Conference. 

Furthermore, the bishop is known as a civic and community leader. Because of his expansive work, he became the Master of Ceremonies at the 50th Anniversary March in Washington. He also served as a panelist in the 2013 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference.

Faith in Florida

The Faith in Florida is a religious organization in Florida that aims to "address systemic racial and economic issues that cause poverty for our families."

The organization believes in the importance of diversity and religion as a call to people to make the country a better place. Further, it said it believes in the importance of the immigrant experience as the universal American story.

For its charity work, the organization provides one on one visits, research, and action, to name a few.

To accomplish the purpose of the organization, it partnered with several religious and social organizations. 

This includes Black Women's Roundtable, Advancement Project, African Methodist Episcopal, Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice, and the African American Council of Christian Clergy.

Further, it has allied itself with Florida Rising, LA RED, Live Free, and SEIU Florida, to name a few.

On its Facebook page, the organization constantly reminds people to exercise their right to vote and educate their friends and family to do the same. 

The organization reiterates the importance of the act as it is necessary to appoint the proper officials that will listen to what the community needs.

Apart from the kickoff event, the organization is holding its "Souls to Polls" Program in the North Dade Regional Library. Evolution Barber Shop and Bible Church of God.
