The Sistrunk Historical Organization will be celebrating the 'Sistrunk Gospel Fest' this September.

'Sistrunk Gospel Fest' Event Details

According to the Eventbrite post, the 'Sistrunk Gospel Fest' of the Sistrunk Historical Organization will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The event is reportedly scheduled at 6 p.m. EDT at the New Mount Olive Baptist Church, located at 400 NW 9th Ave, Fort Lauderdale.

Accordingly, the 2022 Sistrunk Gospel Fest will be featuring the following Gospel performers and will be hosted by Dr. Antrell Dirden.

The general admission ticket for the event is reportedly free, but the VIP ticket, which reportedly costs $35, will have the chance to experience the following inclusions:

  • Meet and greet with Gospel performers
  • Meet and greet with the Sistrunk Board
  • Savory food

  • Special reserved stage front seating

About the Sistrunk Historical Festival

Based on its Eventbrite page, the Sistrunk Historical Festival is a celebration to honor the accomplishments of the African descendant.

The festival aims to provide educational and recreational activities that show the historical events of the Greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida area.

It was reportedly filled with entertainment, fellowship, social networks, family-filled activities, parades, and food stalls that served international foods.

It was reportedly founded by the City of Fort Lauderdale and the Northwest Business Association. It was specifically formed as an initiative for the economic redevelopment of the areas with low socio-economic communities in 1979.

The following are the activities conducted by the organization to promote the contributions of people of African descent:

  • A festival that acknowledges the significance of the citizens of Broward County and supports its Sistrunk Scholarship Program.
  • A parade along the corridor of Sistrunk.
  • A street festival that features the local and national performers
  • A concert that includes jazz and Gospel music.

Also, it provides training and workshops that are in line with the culture and historical figures of the community that will develop the knowledge of the people of Broward County.

The festival is being celebrated annually with the mission to promote Broward County and the South Florida region. With this gathering, the religious organization aims to educate and bring entertainment to the youth and their families, local residents, and tourists, as reported.

The festival started with a two-day celebration that was attended by over 350,000 people across the community and other parts of the state, as reported.

Moreover, the events of the Sistrunk Historical Organization were reportedly recognized as the oldest African-American that promotes and raises awareness about the contribution of the race to the community.

About the Sistrunk Historical Organization

As per its Eventbrite page, the organization was reportedly named after Dr. James Sistrunk, one of the first African-American Physicians in Broward County. This was done in commemoration of the good deeds of the health specialist in the community.

The organization offers a scholarship program for Broward County students who want to continue studying in higher institutions, as reported.

In 2018, the organization celebrated 38 years of providing love and services to the community through its activities and programs.
