Foundation Academy celebrated its Senior Night on Friday, Oct. 22. The event took place during the school's Varsity Football Game.
Senior Night
According to the school's Facebook post, the ceremony honored its student-athletes.
The school paid tribute to its senior athletes in fall sports. These sports included football, cheerleading, and swimming.
The student's parents joined their children in the field. The school gave a short presentation for each student and highlighted their achievements.
Each student-athlete was presented with a custom FA plaque during the ceremony. The school thanked its teams for giving a "wonderful season."
Homecoming Week
According to the school's Facebook page, Foundation Academy celebrated its Homecoming. They posted pictures on their page on Thursday, Oct. 7.
Orange Observer said that the school's football team won against North Florida Educational, 31-0.
The school crowned Nathan Andrews and Cece Fulmer as Homecoming king and queen on Friday, Oct. 8. The ceremony took place after the game.
Students from other grade levels served as the Homecoming Court.
Developing Heart of a Lion
The Foundation Academy website stated that it aims to instill the "Heart of a Lion" among its student-athletes. The school wanted its athletes to have a "bold heart" that was unafraid to face the world despite the odds.
The school prided itself in developing athletes in strength, dignity, and wisdom.
The school said that its Athletic Department molded its athletes to value loyalty and protect others.
Foundation Academy also offers athletics at Elementary, Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels.
New Soccer Coach
The school recently welcomed its new soccer coach to the Foundation Academy family.
According to a report from Orange Observer, the school named Scott Hussey as its head soccer coach on Thursday, Sept. 9. The article said that Hussey had over twenty years of experience in the field of coaching and soccer.
As an athlete, he played for Ursinus College in Pennsylvania and the U.S. Olympic development program. He served as a coach for the Winter Garden youth soccer league.
Hussey said he and his wife wanted to find a way to give back to the school as parents. Their daughter is a first-grader at Foundation Academy's Plant Street Campus.
He added that he took the opportunity to serve the school's soccer program. Hussey said he felt grateful for the role.
The head coach admitted that it was going to be a challenge at first. He knew that he had to study the other schools and get to know his athletes.
Hussey said he was quick to welcome challenges whenever they came his way.
He told the news outlet that he intended to instill a spirit of teamwork among his athletes. Hussey added that he wanted a team worthy of being part of Foundation Academy.
The coach said he wanted them to value integrity.
He hoped to have his athletes represent the school with pride. Hussey told the news outlet that soccer taught skills that one could adopt in life.
The coach pointed out that he would do his best to have his athletes learn and develop these skills as they prepared for college life.
