A local pastor in Orlando recently mourned the death of the 17-year-old Jonathan Robinson. Authorities said that the teen was killed while filming a music video.
Painful Loss
In a report with Fox News, Pastor Stovelleo Stovall told the news outlet that the youth was one of the children he and his wife helped to raise. He shared that the loss hit them hard since the couple loved Robinson as if he was their real son.
The pastor remembered how Robinson would often run to his wife at church. She would reportedly always give him candy or a dollar. The God is Able Outreach leader shared his wife's pain over the young man's death.
Losing a Daughter
As reported, Stovall is no stranger to gun violence. In an earlier report with Fox News, the pastor also lost his daughter, Renisha Lee, to a gun violence crime.
The report said that the 27-year-old was gunned down in her home. Stovall told the news outlet that his daughter did not deserve to die.
He also spoke of what a loving, humble, and caring person she was in life. The parents sought justice for her death and prayed that the killer would come forward.
Stovall told the news outlet that he and his family needed closure.
The pastor has always been vocal about his views on gun violence. He is also an advocate for peace in his area.
Seeking Justice
According to the news outlet, the pastor appealed to the public to help him seek justice for Lee's death.
He stressed that violence is not the answer to anything. The pastor said he felt frustrated knowing that people choose guns to solve problems.
Stovall shared that he and his wife received anonymous tips on the killer's identity. The couple said that no one came forward to authorities to talk about it.
He spoke out, urging the murderer to turn himself in. The pastor told the news outlet that he and his family would stop at nothing until his daughter's killer was found.
Authorities said that his daughter was not the intended target. Instead, Stovall insisted that it was murder.
Parent's Worst Nightmare
In a report with WFTV, the couple shared that receiving the news of their daughter's death was a nightmare. Stovall emphasized that it was a call that no parent wanted to receive.
The pastor told the news outlet that he considered Robinson's father to be like a brother to him. He explained that the man comforted him while he and his wife were grieving Lee's death.
Stovall knew that he would be doing the same now.
He appealed to the public to put the guns down because violence would solve nothing. The pastor pointed out that they should all put down their weapons and choose peace.
Accidental Death?
According to the police report, Police Chief Orlando Rolon responded to the emergency call on Monday, Feb. 7.
He told the news outlet that he was questioning if the shooting was an accident or not. Rolon told the news outlet that the fact that the production was disturbing because it displayed firearms.
