Central United Methodist Church in Phoenix, Arizona called for support in its ongoing missionary work.
On a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 27, the church said those who want to support may avail the necessary items from Amazon to sustain the missionary work.
According to the church’s post, they need to start up the missionary work, as well as the needed ongoing projects for this ministry.
The church said that the AmazonSmile is the designated charity of the Central United Methodist Church.
For those chosen non-profits, a portion of each transaction supports all of Central United Methodist Church’s missions and ministries, according to the church.
Church’s Reconciliation Statement
Regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, family structure, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic background, political affiliation, physical or mental ability, faith background, or life experience, Central Church, a United Methodist Community, has always welcomed all people into its membership and leadership, according to the church’s website.
Growing in Church
The church said by the turn of the century, Central United Methodist Church had established itself as a significant religious force in Phoenix's expanding neighborhood, and in 1904 it relocated into its brick building, which served as its second permanent home.
It added that the first pipe organ to be erected in Phoenix was in that structure in 1909.
The church said the congregation built a larger, white-columned structure near the intersection of Pierce and Central in 1926 as Central's membership grew.
It added that for $44,900, the congregation bought 4 1/2 acres at Central and Palm Lanes on the outskirts of Phoenix in 1946.
In 1950, the current mission-style building had its dedication, according to the church.
The church's most significant history is recorded in its members' lives, even if church structures are crucial to any historical record, it explained.
On the same website, more than 75 Central Church members have entered full-time ministry, and three more ministerial candidates are currently through training.
Planting Churches
The members of Central Church have left their mark by helping to create numerous mission initiatives and community activities due to their ongoing dedication to ministry, according to the church.
At the time, Central and several other Methodist churches actively supported the cooperative initiative known as Deaconess Hospital, which later changed its name to Good Samaritan Hospital, the church said.
The church said Central members founded Phoenix's Goodwill Industries.
Additionally, it added that Central had a significant role in establishing the Wesley Community Center and United Methodist Outreach Ministries and still supports them.
Pastors, class leaders, Sunday school teachers, music directors and musicians, United Methodist Women's and Methodist Men's leaders, ushers, liturgists, office volunteers, Wednesday Wonders, staff, and faithful members have all contributed in their own unique ways to the nearly 150 years of ministry at Central, according to the church.
The church said listing all of them would not even begin to do them justice.
