Neighborhood Church in Atlanta, Georgia said it will hold an event to bless backpacks and school supplies called “Blessing of the Backpacks.”

On a Facebook post on Monday, July 25, the church invited the public to join the blessing in preparation for the upcoming school year in August.

According to the church’s post, the event will be held on Sunday, July 31.

In the same post, the church said early August marks the start of the school year for many of the younger neighbors. Later in the month, some more senior neighbors may return to their studies as teachers, undergraduate students, or graduate students.

Owners may carry everything into their learning environment, such as backpacks, tote bags, satchels, and laptop bag, according to the church.

The church said they may also bring their other favorite school supplies and come to church in order to bless it together with the owner, and prayers will be recited for the upcoming school year.

Church’s ‘SoulCare Share’

Neighborhood Church has announced plans for an event called "SoulCare Share."

The church announced the event's upcoming schedule on Facebook on Saturday, July 16, stating that it will take place on July 27 at 6:30 p.m.

They will have the opportunity to check in and discuss "how it is with their souls," as the early Methodists did at this casual period of connection, the church stated in a post.

They may also bring a dish to pass because the church has stated they will eat together. They will conclude it with a closing prayer for one another, it added.

According to the same post, no RSVPs or registration is necessary as anyone can join this group by simply showing up.

It was also stated that everyone could visit only once or regularly.

According to the post, they hope this group will be successful so that they may interact with other neighborhood residents and share food and some of their joys and sorrows in a way that is useful and healing for their souls. They have neighbors for this reason, it continued.

Summer Fun Days

At 3 p.m., GROW programs for kids and teens got back last July 10 and 12, the church said in a post.

The church recreated GROW: youth and GROW: children, calling them the neighborhood's small groups for study, spiritual growth, and fellowship. Grades 6 to 12 pupils in middle and high school attended GROW: youth, while those in elementary school attended GROW: kids.

According to Neighborhood Church, they first convened as a sizable group for reconciliation before splitting off into more manageable groups based on age.

Additionally, it added that parents were free to stay and participate in the activities or leave and return later.
