African Methodist Episcopal’s History
The African Methodist Episcopal Church's aim is to serve all people's spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs by disseminating the liberating message of Jesus Christ through speech and doing, according to the church.
The African Methodist Episcopal Church will work to uphold the original Free Africa Society's spirit at every level of the Connection and in every local church. In order to find and save the lost, as well as to help those in need, the church evolved.
They are convening online in this pandemic-driven period, the church said.
Even so, they still sincerely hope that they will come to see them and perhaps even join the community, it added.
The church said they hope you will see themselves as a part of this thriving, expanding community of Christians and join. All are welcome, so please “get in where you fit in."
Greater Bethel is a member of a global network of Christians who share Jesus with strangers they come across in the streets and hedges, according to the church.
The church said everyone may come to walk with the church as they strive to resemble Jesus more and more each day.
Church’s Denomination Mission Statement
According to the church, through a persistent program, they actively seek out and save the lost and provide for the needy at every level of our Connection. In every local church, they aim to achieve:
- gospel message delivery
- feeding the famished
- covering the bare
- hosting homeless people
- uplifting the slain
- giving unemployed people jobs
- providing for the needs of people housed in jails, hospitals, nursing homes, asylums, and mental health facilities, as well as senior citizen homes, as well as providing for the sick, the housebound, and those with social and mental health issues,
- promoting economic growth and prudence.
These are the actions that Jesus took and which His Word instructs us to take. Additionally, by doing this, they uphold the Free African Society's mission, which gave rise to the church.
They firmly believe in the verses in the Bible that exhort the people to be "a church on a mission to do God's Work, and to fulfill His mission by following His direction.”
