The Atlanta First United Methodist Church in Georgia commemorated World Refugee Day on Saturday, June 25.
In a Facebook post on Friday, June 24, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church said it had the World Refugee Day celebration on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
According to the church’s post, they invited the public to join for local food, performances, vendors, and elected officials among others.

Back-to-School Supply Drive
A back-to-school supply drive was organized by the Atlanta First United Methodist Church.
The Boyce L. Ansley School and Wellroot Family Services will receive school materials and uniforms from the Atlanta First United Methodist Church during its 175 Kick-Off Celebration on August 28. This was announced in a Facebook post on Thursday, June 23.
The church asked for items such as backpacks for students of all ages up through college, notebook paper, washable markers, highlighters, index cards, pens, pencils, colored pencils, erasers, USB flash drives, earbuds, rulers, scientific calculators, and gift cards to Amazon or Target worth $15 to $40 so that students can purchase school uniforms in specific sizes.
The church posted that these things might be brought in on Sunday and left at the front desk, shipped to the church package address at 2020 Howell Mill Road NW, Suite D-339, Atlanta, GA 30318-1732, or delivered during church office hours.
The church requested assistance for the kids' forthcoming academic year.

Call for Lead Pastor’s Executive Assistant
The Atlanta First United Methodist Church needs an executive assistant or office manager for the senior pastor.
The United Methodist Church posted on Facebook on Tuesday, June 7, that it was looking to hire either an office manager or the senior pastor's executive assistant.
The church is looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, loves all people, enjoys learning, is proficient in office technology, and wants to join a dynamic team dedicated to the church's mission of worshiping God, serving others, growing together, and engaging Atlanta and beyond, according to the job posting.
The lead pastor's principal point of contact at the church is either the office manager or executive assistant to the pastor (EA). The EA is the main point of contact for the head pastor, members of the congregation, church employees, and community members.
The EA is also in charge of managing and setting up the lead pastor's office, which includes, but is not limited to, organizing the leadership team, budgeting, travel, and managing reimbursements.
According to the church's job posting, this is a full-time hybrid role that requires a love for all of God's people, a solid work ethic, attention to detail, and the capacity to work both digitally and in person.
