St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, Phoenix to host archdiocese convention in 2023

St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church will host the archdiocese convention next year, from July 20 to 30.

Archdiocese Convention Returns

St. George also announced on Facebook its particular assignment as the host for the 2023 Archdiocese Convention. It expressed that it felt blessed to be the host for the 2023 Archdiocese Convention.

It asked everyone to spread the news about the gathering. The church provided links for more information regarding the event. 

The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America spoke about the return of the Archdiocese Convention. The archdiocese, through its Facebook page, provided details about the convention.

It is scheduled for next year, from July 23 to 30.

St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Phoenix will host the 2023 Archdiocese Convention. The archdiocese encourages members to register for the gathering.

As stated in the announcement, the archdiocese will come together for the first time since the pandemic. The registration for the 2023 Archdiocese Convention will be open in a few months.

Furthermore, the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America suggested that those interested in joining should make plans early.

It also informs all that hotel registration for the convention is now open. JW Marriot Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa is the venue for the 2023 Archdiocese Convention.

St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, Phoenix 

According to its website, the history of Orthodox Christians in Phoenix, Arizona, began more than 70 years ago. A group of Orthodox Christians united to establish an Orthodox Church. 

As shared on the website, the original incorporation happened on June 23, 1949. The church began at the 45th Street and Indian School location in Phoenix. 

Such happened after many meetings and correspondence with Bishop Samuel David. Father Sweity helped local men raise funds. 

From these humble beginnings, St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church grew to what it is today. 

St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church announced that its bookstore is back in The Legacy Room. The church shared through its Facebook page that St. George Bookstore returned on Aug. 14, Sunday, after the Divine Liturgy. 

St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church shared a new supply of icons, crosses, and chains and the latest edition of “A Pocket Prayer Book for Orthodox Christians.” The church invited its members to come on Sunday. 

Beliefs of Orthodox Christians 

As shared on its website, St. George Church, as Orthodox Christians, believes in one God. He is revealed in the Scriptures as the Holy Trinity.

It believes in Jesus Christ as the Savior of humankind, the Son of God, and He will come again to judge the living and the dead. 

The Orthodox Christians believe that the Holy Spirit is the giver of life and the Lord. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father. 

It transforms mankind through their faith into true disciples of Christ. 

Icons are found in all Orthodox Churches worldwide. God is the only one being worshiped, not icons. However, these icons are venerated to honor those represented.
