Druid Hills Presbyterian Church helps women's center host community outreach gathering

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, helped a women's center host a community outreach gathering for refugee families.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Dec. 8, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced that Amani Women Center of the Memorial Drive Ministries community hosted a community outreach gathering.

According to the church, over 200 refugee families were in attendance, and more than 73 people received their coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccinations.

Meanwhile, Amani Women Center also organized a year-end celebration, providing much-needed assistance to the refugee community and second doses of vaccine to those who received their first dosage in November.

According to the post, Druid Hills Presbyterian covered a large portion of Amani Women Center's hosting fees.

Church's Recycling Day

On Sunday, Dec. 5, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held a Recycling Day.

In a Facebook post, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced organizing a hard-to-recycle-materials recycling day.

The mission team will gather paint, chemicals, political signs, styrofoam, and unwanted small or medium-sized electrical and electronic gadgets, according to the church's Facebook post.

The church said items would be delivered to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHARM), which will ensure that they are recycled appropriately.

According to the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, participants were asked not to bring styrofoam containers with food residues to recycle. The church, however, noted that everyone should bring clean items.

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church said the members collected recyclables in the front parking lot on Sunday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. and 12 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Church's Morning, Evening Circles

Last Tuesday, Oct. 12, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held morning and evening circles for women.

This year, according to the Druid Hills Presbyterian website, all church ladies were invited to join the Presbyterian women.

The church's morning and evening circles were held online via Zoom.

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church said the zoom links for the sessions are available on the weekly zoom links webpage.

Food Pantry

According to the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, volunteers are also needed for Intown Collaborative Ministries' food banks.

On Tuesday, Sept. 21, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced the food pantry partnership in a Facebook post.

Individuals who wanted to volunteer at Intown Collaborative Ministries' food pantry were welcomed at the church.

According to their website, the Intown Collaborative Ministries is a nonprofit dedicated to preventing and treating homelessness and malnutrition in Atlanta's Intown district.

The church said the food pantry distribution was conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Iconic Instrument

Meanwhile, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held a farewell service for its iconic instrument on Sunday, Oct. 24.

The Presbyterian Church announced on Facebook that their Aeolian-Skinner Organ would be restored at the end of October.

According to the post, as a farewell service for the historical instrument, the church held unique poetry and organ event.

According to the Druid Hills, the organ will be dismantled and sent for restoration in the coming weeks.
