Druid Hills Presbyterian Church to hold Recycling Day this coming Sunday

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, holds a Recycling Day on Sunday, Dec. 5.

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced in a Facebook post that it would hold a hard to recycle materials recycling day.

According to the church's Facebook post, the mission team will collect the paint, chemicals, political signs, styrofoam, and unwanted small or medium-sized electrical and electronic devices.

The church said the materials would be sent to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHARM), which will ensure that they are properly recycled.

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church advised participants to please not bring styrofoam containers with food residues to recycle. However, it noted, everyone should bring clean items.

The mission team representatives will be collecting recyclables in the front parking lot on Sunday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. and 12 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Farewell Service for Iconic Instrument

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held a farewell service for its iconic instrument on Sunday, Oct. 24.

The Presbyterian Church announced on Facebook on Friday, Oct. 22, that their Aeolian-Skinner Organ will undergo restoration at the end of October.

According to the post, the church arranged a special ceremony of poetry and organ for the ancient instrument as a farewell service.

According to the Druid Hills, the organ will be removed and transferred for restoration in the following weeks.

It will be returned after more than a year, according to the post.

The church said the particular service was the last chance to hear the instrument before it was restored.

The church also expressed their admiration for the Organ Restoration Task Force's leadership in a service that is sure to be overflowing with praise for the antique instrument's beauty.

The special service was held both in-person and via online live broadcast worship, according to the post.

Morning, Evening Circles

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held morning and evening circles for women last Tuesday, Oct. 12.

According to the Druid Hills Presbyterian website, all church ladies were invited to join the Presbyterian women this year.

Morning and evening circles were held online via Zoom, according to the church.

The church's weekly zoom links website, according to the church, offers the zoom links for the sessions.

Church's Food Pantry

According to the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, volunteers are also required for Intown Collaborative Ministries' food banks.

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced the food pantry partnership in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Individuals interested in volunteering at the food pantry of Intown Collaborative Ministries were welcomed at the church.

The Intown Collaborative Ministries, according to their website, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and treating homelessness and hunger in Atlanta's Intown neighborhood.

The pantry distribution was conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
