Druid Hills Presbyterian Church says no in-person worship on Dec. 26

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, announced no in-person worship on Sunday, Dec. 26.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Dec. 26, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church reminded the church attendees that there would be no in-person worship on Sunday, Dec. 26.

However, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church noted that a recorded worship service would be available on the church’s website in the morning.

Meanwhile, the church said a Zoom gathering would also occur at 11 a.m.

The Presbyterian church said the in-person worship would resume on Sunday, Jan. 2.

Church Helps to Host Community Outreach Gathering

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church assisted a women's center host a community outreach meeting for refugee families.

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced on Facebook on Wednesday, Dec. 8, that the Amani Women Center of the Memorial Drive Ministries community conducted a community outreach gathering.

According to the church, over 200 refugee families were in attendance, and over 73 people received their coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccinations.

In the meantime, the Amani Women Center held a year-end celebration, delivering much-needed help to the refugee population and second vaccine doses to individuals who had received their first dose in November.

According to the post, Druid Hills Presbyterian Church paid for a significant percentage of the Amani Women Center's hosting costs.

Morning, Evening Circles for Women

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church offered morning and evening circles for women on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

All church ladies were asked to join the Presbyterian women this year, according to the Druid Hills Presbyterian website.

Morning and evening circles at the church were streamed live via Zoom.

According to the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, zoom links for the sessions are available on the weekly zoom links homepage.

Church’s Food Pantry

Volunteers are also required for Intown Collaborative Ministries' food banks, according to the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 21, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced the food pantry cooperation.

Individuals interested in volunteering at the food pantry of Intown Collaborative Ministries were welcomed at the church.

The Intown Collaborative Ministries, according to their website, is a nonprofit dedicated to preventing and treating homelessness and hunger in Atlanta's Intown region.

The food pantry distribution took place at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Farewell Service for Church’s Iconic Instrument

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Oct. 24, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held a farewell ceremony for its legendary instrument.

The Presbyterian Church's Aeolian-Skinner Organ will be restored towards the end of October, according to a Facebook post.

According to the post, the church hosted a one-of-a-kind poetry and organ event as a farewell ceremony for the ancient instrument.

The Druid Hills said the organ would be dismantled and transferred for restoration in the following weeks.

Recycling Day

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held a Recycling Day on Sunday, Dec. 5.

The church announced a hard-to-recycle-materials recycling day in a Facebook post.

According to the church's Facebook post, the mission team will collect paint, chemicals, political placards, styrofoam, and unwanted small or medium-sized electrical and electronic items.

Items will be delivered to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHARM), which will ensure that they are recycled properly, according to the church.
