Druid Hills Presbyterian Church to fund donations for Mercy Community Church

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, is set to fund matching donations for Mercy Community Church.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Nov. 23, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced funding a $3,200 matching grant for Mercy Community Church.

The church said the public might consider giving a special gift to this matching grant to help the members and community of the Mercy Church amid the cold days of winter.

According to the post, interested donors may donate on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

The church said they can also send a check to Mercy Community Church at PO Box 8676, Atlanta, GA, 31106 and note "Druid Hills Presbyterian Church grant."

It added that they could also give through online at https://www.mercyatl.org/give.

Recycling Day

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, hosts a Recycling Day on Sunday, Dec. 5.

In a Facebook post, the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church announced organizing a hard-to-recycle-materials recycling day.

The mission team will gather paint, chemicals, political signs, styrofoam, and unwanted small or medium-sized electrical and electronic gadgets, according to the church's Facebook post.

The items will be delivered to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHARM), which will ensure that they are recycled appropriately, according to the church.

According to the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, participants were asked not to bring styrofoam containers with food residues to recycle. However, the church said that everyone should bring clean clothes.

According to the church, the mission team personnel will be collecting recyclables in the front parking lot on Sunday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. and 12 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Morning, Evening Circles for Women

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held morning and evening circles for women on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

This year, according to the Druid Hills Presbyterian website, all church ladies were invited to join the Presbyterian women.

The church said the morning and evening circles were held online via Zoom. The zoom links for the sessions are available on the weekly zoom links webpage.

Food Pantry

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church said volunteers are also needed for Intown Collaborative Ministries' food banks.

The Druid Hills announced the food pantry cooperation in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Individuals interested in volunteering at the food pantry of Intown Collaborative Ministries were welcomed at the church.

According to their website, the Intown Collaborative Ministries is a nonprofit dedicated to preventing and treating homelessness and malnutrition in Atlanta's Intown district.

The church said the pantry distribution was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Iconic Instrument

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church held a farewell ceremony for its legendary instrument on Sunday, Oct. 24.

The Presbyterian Church announced on Facebook on Friday, Oct. 22, that their Aeolian-Skinner Organ would be restored at the end of October.

According to the post, as a farewell service for the historical instrument, the church held a unique poetry and organ event.

It added that the organ would be removed and transferred for restoration in the following weeks.
