Embry Hills United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia has invited the public to join in a celebration to support reconciling ministries.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Sept. 22, the church said it had celebrated five years of being a reconciling congregation on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m.

According to the church’s post, it invited the public to join for special morning service on Sunday in the sanctuary.

The church said it was a special offering that will be taken to support the reconciling ministries.

The Embry Hills United Methodist Church said it begin gathering donations for Lost-N-Found, a program serving homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ+) adolescents. 

October will see more collections, according to the church’s post.

Non-governmental Organizations

Embry Hills United Methodist Church's website said that they view their partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank as an honor.

The public is encouraged to email Dr. Thrasher with any questions at pastor@embryhillsumc.org, according to the church.

The church issued a warning that no one from the organization will approach members of the public and demand cash or gift cards. 

It also made clear that anyone who was subjected to such demands had the option of choosing to delete the message and informing the church officials of their choice.

It further cautioned people not to reply or click any of the message's links.

Embry Hills United Methodist Church asserted that it donates money to numerous non-governmental groups through budget giving, above-and-beyond contributions, and special events.

The church gave examples of recurrent events such as the American Red Cross, Advent Giving Trees, NETWorks Cooperative Ministry, and Snax Sax for Kids.

Additionally, it stated that the local Snax Sax for Kids program gives weekend snack bags to 360 Title I primary school students from the Northlake/Tucker/Decatur schools who have trouble eating throughout the academic year.

Enthusiastic Support

According to the church's website, NETWorks Cooperative Ministry enjoys fervent support.

The organization provides "food and monetary aid to residents of Northlake-Embry Hills-Tucker" and works to "connect with individuals to identify long-term solutions to poverty" through its role as a donation drop-off place, volunteer recruitment, board membership, and other endeavors.

The American Red Cross has reportedly conducted blood drives on our campus six times a year since 2012, according to Embry Hills United Methodist Church.

The Embry Hills United Methodist Church's Advent community service project is a long-standing tradition and a simple way to meet people.

The church asserted that United Methodist churches can serve and donate more effectively as a group than they can as individuals since they are a part of a connectional denomination.
