Church’s COVID-19 Policy

The number of COVID-19 instances has dropped recently, both in Atlanta, Fulton County, and the rest of the state, according to the church's website

First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta said the session has decided to make the campus mask optional (regardless of vaccination status) as of March 1, 2022.

The decision was made in light of the most recent data, with a high vaccination rate as a congregation, and the low incidences of serious illness among both vaccinated people and unvaccinated children, the church explained.

On that day, the building's food service might also start up again, according to the church.

First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta said the session also removed the requirement for testing for overnight excursions and retreats and reiterated our position on COVID-19 vaccinations as a condition of employment.

The church said the session still advocates for vaccination and booster shots for everyone who is eligible.

It has been demonstrated that the COVID-19 vaccine protects against fatal illnesses, according to the church.

Unvaccinated Georgians had a six times higher risk of dying from a disease associated with COVID-19 during the month of January 2022 than vaccinated Georgians, the church said.

At least 98 percent of Georgians who received vaccinations and tested positive for COVID-19 since Jan. 2 did not suffer from a serious disease, the church said.

In conclusion, immunizations work, the church added.

The COVID-19 Task Force has completed its duties as a committee, according to the church. The session will take action if they decide it is necessary to re-establish a task force to address COVID-19 or any other health issue, the church said.

The session and the church have benefited greatly from the time, effort, knowledge, and encouragement this task group has provided, it added.

The church said it was challenging work at times and in many different ways.

First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta said this group's dedication to keeping the congregation as safe as possible while enabling the continuation of the basic traditions of worship, development, and mission will be remembered when people look back on the history of how they dealt with the pandemic.
