Iconic Windows
The framework of each window is actually quite complex, according to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.
The church refered to the main scene as being composed of three windows (or panes) as a "trefoil" or tripartite schema.
The trefoil is surrounded by eight tall, thin panes that appear to be identical in all 10 windows but are unique. According to the church, people now refer to these windows as the Octet or the Mansions.
According to the church, the Triplet— three smaller windows, is situated beneath the trefoil. A primary element that may be located in the center window serves as the link between each window in the Triplet and the one preceding it.
On one side of the church, there are larger windows and windows with stained glass that are both lit from the outside. According to the church, mosaics have been used to fill the gaps on the other side.
Church’s Architecture
According to the church's website, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta has had two sanctuaries on Marietta Street in succession since its foundation in 1848.
First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta claimed that after some time, it moved to a "far out" location near 16th and Peachtree.
It stated the entire sanctuary was consecrated in 1919.
The architect suggested several large windows "for light and ventilation," according to the church.
According to the church, the pastor, Dr. Lyons, developed a plan and ideas for the installation of stained glass windows.
The church said the ten windows that round the sanctuary's floor reflect the biblical story from Abraham to the apostles' efforts to spread Christianity after Christ's death and resurrection.
The first six windows, according to the church, were made by Tiffany, while the latter four were made by D'Ascenzo.
There are four locations with a total of twenty windows. It went on to say that there are nine Willet windows, four D'Ascenzo windows, and seven Tiffany windows.
Twelve sizable windows line the sanctuary. According to the church, the floor of the sanctuary is surrounded by these 10 windows, five on each side.
