Celebrating God’s Grace

The United Methodist tradition of honoring God's grace as essential to religion is followed by North Decatur Church, according to the church

North Decatur United Methodist Church said its definition of grace is far broader than it seems.

The church, citing Catholic author Thomas Merton, said grace is God's life shared with everyone. Really, that is a really nice definition. God loves people even when they feel too damaged for anyone to even try to like the people, which is what grace implies, the church said.

The church said nothing, neither what they can do nor what can be done to the people can separate them from God's grace and love because they are so strong.

It added that because of how potent that grace is, they want to spread it to others.

North Decatur United Methodist Church said it thinks their theology is fairly good, and they have the nicest potlucks. Around here, people talk a lot about grace and believe that helping others is fundamental to their faith, it added.

In addition, members partake in Holy Communion each week, according to the church.

The church said it celebrates an open table because the notion that everyone is a child of God plays a significant role in theology. It means that if they are here, God loves everyone regardless of who they are or what they have done, according to the church.

The church said everyone is welcome to partake in Communion and have a seat at God's table.
