First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta to hold annual children’s Christmas pageant

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta will hold its annual children’s Christmas pageant on Sunday, Dec. 19.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Oct. 21, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta announced the opening of the pageant’s registration. The deadline for the registration was on Sunday, Oct. 24.

The church said the children’s Christmas pageant is one of the First Presbyterian’s most beloved holiday traditions.

According to the post, the event was for the children to get the opportunity to lead the congregation in worship during an Advent service.

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta said the children through Grade 5 were invited to participate as a character, choir member, prayer leader, or narrator.

The children’s Christmas pageant will take place during the service worship in the sanctuary on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m.

Worship Service

Individuals interested in worshiping online should visit the First Presbyterian Church's live stream page, homepage, or every Sunday page, according to the church’s website.

The church said the new calendar of events would include everything the church offers, from weekly Sunday services to concerts and small groups.

Meanwhile, church members will update the event description with information on the virtual event's attendance.

According to the church, the High Museum of Art, Atlanta Design Museum, Union Theater, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Opera, and other local art institutions are all within walking distance.

The church offers concerts and activities regularly as a result of these connections.

According to the church's website, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta was founded in 1848.

The website said the chapel is located near the Woodruff Arts Center situated on the corner of Peachtree and 16th Streets.

According to its members, the First Presbyterian Church aspires to be a leader in worship, spiritual education, service, community relations, and the arts in the city.

The Presbyterian church said many families contributed to the city's progress, and important anniversaries were recognized.

‘Art in Motion’

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta in Georgia also held an "Art in Motion" event with music and dance accompaniment on Saturday, Oct. 23.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Oct. 22, the First Presbyterian Church said the Art in Motion event is a unique artistic collaboration featuring music from Okorie "OkCello" Johnson and dance by Ballethnic Dance Company.

According to the post, the artistic event was held on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Participants were encouraged to bring a lawn chair and invite friends to the evening's music, and celebration said the church. African sculptures and paintings also inspired the celebration at East Point City Hall.

Piano Concert

Meanwhile, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta held a piano and organ concert on Friday, Oct. 29. The church invited the public to a "Battle of the Keys" piano and organ concert on Friday at 8 p.m., according to a Facebook post.

Beethoven's Emperor Concerto reworked for piano and organ, and a world premiere piece Poème Rhapsodique by David Briggs, performed by Julie Coucheron and Jens Korndörfer, is among the works on the program, according to the church.

The church added that the event was also live-streamed on Concerts@First.
