Oldest Neighborhoods

The first "garden suburb" of Atlanta, Inman Park is home to the 1866-founded Inman Park United Methodist Church.

The church asserted that it predates one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods.

According to the church, the structure was dedicated on April 17, 1898. The church said Willis Franklin Denny, II used Stone Mountain granite to build the well-known "castle" mansion close to the intersection of Peachtree Street and West Peachtree. He was also responsible for Rhodes Hall.

Denny built the St. Mark United Methodist Church, the First United Methodist Church, among other well-known Atlanta buildings, it added.
