Inman Park United Methodist Church to host parents' night out, youth lock-in events

The Inman Park United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, is set to host parents' night out and youth lock-in event on Friday, Nov. 12.

According to its website, the Inman Park United Methodist Church announced that the parents can drop off their kids for a parents' night out on Nov. 12 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The church assured that dinner would be served for the kids. The children will also be assigned to help prepare blessing bags and play games with the help of the Inman Park United Methodist Church Youth.

Meanwhile, the youth will have a lock-in event from 8:30 p.m. until 8 a.m., according to the church's website.

The Inman Park United Methodist Church also called for volunteers in both events.

According to the website, the volunteers will be needed from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. to help with the parent's night out, including someone to provide a spaghetti dinner.

The church also asked for an available couple (one female and one male who are not youth parents) to assist with the youth lock-in.

Parents and interested participants may sign up until Sunday, Nov. 7, according to the post.

Meanwhile, it also appealed for blessing bag donations for the people in the community.

Volunteers can also help by making donations for the blessing bags, commonly needed items for the unsheltered neighbors that the kids will be putting together.

According to Inman Park, a list of possible donations can be found on the church's website and needed until Monday, Nov. 8.

October Food Drive, Fall Festival

In October, the Inman Park United Methodist Church will also hold a food drive and is looking for donations.

The Inman Park United Methodist Church requested food donations for the food drive in a Facebook post on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

Shelf-stable milk (UHT), instant oatmeal or grits, granola bars, water bottles, fruit cups, tuna packets, canned soup, sandwiches, gallon-sized ziplock bags, plastic grocery bags, snack items, and instant coffee packets are among the items needed, according to the post.

The church said the food supplies can be dropped off at the church or on the parsonage's back porch until Thursday, Oct. 28.

Meanwhile, it also hosted a fall festival for all ages on Sunday, Oct. 17.

According to a Facebook post, the Inman Park United Methodist Church had its fall festival from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The church said the festivities featured pumpkin painting, a costume contest, and blessing bags.

Inman Park United Methodist Church's History

According to their Facebook page, the Inman Park United Methodist Church is a historic church with a 21st-century viewpoint, located two miles east of downtown Atlanta in the Inman Park region.

Inman Park was Atlanta's first "garden suburb," according to the church's page, and Inman Park United Methodist Church is a historic church in the neighborhood.

The church was founded in 1866, according to the website, and is still active today. On Apr. 17, 1898, the Inman Park United Methodist Church was dedicated.

It was created in the Romanesque style by Willis Franklin Denny II and is composed of Stone Mountain granite.
