North Decatur United Methodist Church’s Beliefs

The United Methodist tradition of honoring God's grace as essential to religion is followed by North Decatur Church, according to the church's website

North Decatur United Methodist Church said the definition of grace is far broader than it seems. According to Catholic author Thomas Merton, grace is God's life shared with everyone, the church said.

The church also said it was really a nice definition. God loves everyone even when they feel too damaged for anyone to even try to like them, which is what grace implies, according to the church.

Nothing, neither what they can do nor what can be done to everyone, can separate them from God's grace and love because they are so strong, according to the church.

The church said this was because of how potent that grace is, and they want to spread it to others.

It added it adhered to a fairly common set of beliefs on God and the Bible, much like the majority of other churches practicing in the Christian tradition.

However, just because something is commonplace does not imply it is not significant, according to the church.

The church said it thinks their theology is fairly good, and they have the nicest potlucks. Around here, they talk a lot about grace and believe that helping others is fundamental to their faith, it added.

In addition, the church said it participates in Holy Communion each week. It added that it celebrates an open table because the notion that everyone is a child of God plays a significant role in theology.

It means that if they are here, God loves everyone regardless of who they are or what they have done.

Everyone is welcome to partake in Communion and have a seat at God's table, according to the church.

Church’s Council

The principal governing body of the congregation in the United Methodist Church is the church council, according to the church. The administration, programming, and church visioning are all handled by the church's leaders.
