Church’s Leadership

As a Presbyterian Church (USA) member congregation, Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church is subject to the rules and regulations set forth in the Book of Order, according to the church's website

The church said session leaders are all co-chairs of one of four teams—Connect, Grow, Serve, Belong (Vision Support)—connected to the mission statement, as well as a fifth team called Stewardship.

The church said the care ministry of the church is overseen by the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church's deacons.

They are in charge of increasing the congregation's capacity for pastoral care and connecting with grieving or joyful families to offer assistance, according to the church.

Meals, rides, cards, visits, and home communion are examples of this, the church said.

It added baptisms and special worship rituals are also handled by the deacons.

Church’s Education

Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church appreciates the opportunity of the church to deepen the faith as they strengthen the bonds with one another.

They aim to establish a secure environment where their faith can be tested, rekindled, and expanded through Sunday morning programming and other opportunities that present themselves, according to the church.

All church leaders and volunteers who work with children are educated in this program, and Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church has earned the designation of a partner in prevention for the efforts to "create an environment that better safeguards children,” according to the church’s website.

Church’s Music, Worship

At Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, the church said worship is intentional in its liturgy, expressively creative, and informal.

The church said hymns are typically sung with an organ or piano, albeit occasionally with more modern instrumentation.

It added that the chancel choir sings an anthem during the Sunday morning service and rehearses every Sunday at 9:45 a.m.

The handbell choir practices every Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. and typically performs during Sunday morning services once a month, according to the church.

The church said they would want the public to share their musical talent with the church.

It added that they will broadcast live on Facebook using Zoom for 15 minutes before each Sunday's service. The church said they would utilize this time for conversation in the comments section of the website.

The church assured those who do not use Facebook as it will be uploading the worship videos on the church's page, the week after service.

They may check back for updates while those films continue to be available on the Facebook page, according to the church.

It added that attendees may visit facebook.com/opcbrookhaven/videos to watch the videos on the page.
