Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church to hold 'Trunk or Treat' this October

The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, is set to hold a "Trunk or Treat" on Sunday, Oct. 24.

In a Facebook post, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church has invited the public to join in the church's parking lot on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Presbyterian church said the event provides a safe, fun-filled environment fellowship for the children and members of the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church.

The interested participants will get treats and participate in the Halloween activities, according to the church.

The church said those who were fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and are comfortable not wearing a face mask during the event would be welcome to do so.

However, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian noted that they were advised to wear face masks when speaking in proximity to other people.

The church said those attendees who also wish to decorate their drunks can fill out their form or contact Amy Chance at Hawkeyeca@aol.com.

Memorial Service

The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church also announced hosting an All Saints Day memorial service on Sunday, Nov. 7.

According to the church's website, the Presbyterian church will host an All Saints Day memorial service on Nov. 7 at 12:30 p.m. in the Memorial Garden to remember and honor those who have passed away this year.

The church said the memorial service would also be live-streamed on its Facebook page.

It added that the deacons would prepare garden rocks with the names of the loved ones, as they have continuously conducted in the previous years.

The garden pebbles will be available during the reception.

Persons interested should contact the church's deacon or send an email to office@opcbrookhaven.org with the names of those they want to honor during the service.

They are also encouraged to look up additional information about the event on the church's website.

Church's Worship Service

According to the church, those who visit the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church's worship service will be greeted with deep hospitality, opportunities for growth, a call to serve, and a sense of belonging.

At 11 a.m. on Sunday, the church announced that its worship service would be webcast live on Facebook at facebook.com/opcbrookhaven.

The public is welcome to attend the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, according to the church.

Social distance must be maintained at all times, with people standing at least six feet apart and avoiding physical contact, the Presbyterian Church.

Meanwhile, the church advised attendees to use the church's equipment to sanitize any surfaces they had touched, including indoor bathrooms, before leaving.

In the future, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church's workers will be encouraged to work from home. According to the church, they will be allowed to return to the workplace as needed.

While the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church supports the COVID-19 vaccine, it does not want to take any chances or risks, mainly since the vaccine is unavailable to the church's youngest members.

It added that any gathering in the chapel that exceeds 50 people and compromises social distancing would be relocated to the sanctuary.
