Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia had Atlanta Chamber Players as its guest to perform the regional premiere of Benjamin Horne's “I Remember You.”
In a Facebook post on Friday, Oct. 21, the church said the song was performed on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m.
According to the church’s post, Horne is an outstanding young composer with Georgia connections.
The church said Atlanta Chamber Players formed the Cross-Country Chamber Consortium in 2021 with like-minded organizations from Houston, San Antonio, Chicago, and New York.
It added that Horne was the first winner of a competition for Black, Latinx, and Indigenous composers.
Horne’s Composition
Horne's composition is performed by every group as part of the competition.
He was born and raised in Atlanta, making the performance of his work at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church all the more poignant, according to the church.
Horne, a low brass musician, conductor, and composer or arranger, was born in 1995 and currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana, the church said.
He is now working toward his master's in music performance at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, it added.
The Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University (GA) awarded him a bachelor's degree along with certificates in music composition, music education, and music performance, according to the church.
The church said Horne is a skilled trombonist and euphonium player. It added that he presently performs with the Albireo New Music Collective and the Sequence Euphonium Quartet.
Horne has written music for a variety of genres and instrumentations, including large ensembles, solo, and chamber compositions. In Atlanta, Georgia, Horne also worked as a band director for a while, the church said.

Worship Service
According to the church's website, regular services at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church begin at 8:45 a.m. The church said the service will begin with a period of fellowship with the priest, staff, and other worshipers and extend for around 60 minutes.
The church claimed they would respect the decision of any attendees who want to be quiet during the social gathering.
According to Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, music will signal the beginning of the worship service.
If they needed a private area to breastfeed or make phone calls, Peachtree Road United Methodist Church volunteers may direct them to the proper location.
The majority of worship services take place in the sanctuary and chapel, according to the church's website.
In contrast to the regular service, which includes an organ and choir, the alternate service, according to Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, incorporates a complete band. Despite the use of screens, reading the paper bulletin is still the preferred method of attending services.
Everyone is given the right to dress however they like. According to the church, visitors keep things casual outside of sanctuary services but dress in their "Sunday finest" within.
Although neither was required, the church claimed that it nonetheless wanted everyone to be ready so they could feel at ease.
