Shallowford Presbyterian Church gathers more than $21,000 for International Rescue Committee

The Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia said it gathered more than $21,000 for the International Rescue Committee.

In a Facebook post on Friday, April 1, the Shallowford Presbyterian Church thanked those who support the people of Ukraine.

According to the church, it earned more than $21,000 for the International Rescue Committee through the #AtlantaisUnitedforUkraine benefit event.

The Shallowford Presbyterian Church said the community is a tremendous force, and stronger when they work together.

Church’s Benefit Concert

During the heightened war with the Russian military, the Shallowford Presbyterian Church sponsored a benefit concert for those affected in Ukraine.

The Shallowford Presbyterian Church encouraged the public to attend the "Atlanta is United for Ukraine" benefit concert in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 30.

According to the church, Shallowford used musical skills to aid the world's neighbors in Ukraine on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m.

The International Rescue Committee (Rescue.org/GiveAtlanta) receives 100% of the proceeds, according to the church. They have the option to donate at any moment.

Musical guests from prestigious organizations such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Chamber Players, Franklin Pond Chamber Music, Choral Guild of Atlanta, Lakeside High School Music Department, Shallowford Presbyterian Choirs, Atlanta Pipe Band, and Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra performed at the fundraiser event "Atlanta is United for Ukraine."

Festival Chorus

The Georgia Festival Chorus gave a live concert at the Shallowford Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 27.

The 100-voice Georgia Festival Chorus sang live in concert on Sunday, March 27 at 7 p.m., according to the Shallowford Presbyterian Church on Facebook.

The Georgia Festival Chorus, according to the church's statement, sings a repertoire of classical, modern, spiritual, and traditional sacred choral works in live concert presentations and professionally-produced recordings for both local and international audiences.

According to the church, the goal is to allow new and existing audiences to experience the wonder of music, to connect with them through familiar sounds in the performance, and to create a friendly environment.

It went on to state that children should be introduced to new and intriguing places with unfamiliar music and that they should be trusted to participate in the musical journey.

During their time together at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, people discussed their hopes and needs for this new ministry, according to the church.

According to a Shallowford Presbyterian Church Facebook post, this ministry is for people aged 70 and up who are looking for faith-based friendships.
