Several volunteers and members of the Atlanta First United Methodist Church have rendered time and effort to decorate the church's building in preparation for the Holiday season.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Nov. 22, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church said its volunteers and members had a fun time "hanging" out at the church building last Saturday.

The church also thanked the volunteers who gave their time and effort to help string garland, set up candles, and prepare the Chrismon tree.

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church said the worship service participants should not miss the Sunday worship at 11 a.m. as it lights the sanctuary.

According to the post, the sanctuary's lighting was in celebration of the start of a new church year and the beginning of Advent, a season of preparation before the coming of Christ at Christmas.

Hanging of Greens Event

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church held its annual hanging of the celebration of the green on Saturday, Nov. 20.

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church announced its annual Christmas event on Saturday at 9 a.m. in a Facebook post last Wednesday, Nov. 17.

According to the church, the Atlanta First Sanctuary was decked with garlands and wreaths for the Advent and Christmas seasons. It said that candles had been lit and that the Chrismon tree had been decked.

The Methodist church noted that it needed as many people as possible for the event to succeed.

There was Christmas music, hot cocoa, coffee, and pastries, according to the post.

The congregation was also encouraged to dress in church-appropriate Christmas pajamas and Santa hats.

It added that the more people that attend the event, the better.

Clothes, Supplies Donation Drive

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church has requested clothing and supplies for the homeless amid the state's cold weather.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Oct. 28, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church requested assistance by donating clothing and materials to #keepATLwarm by surrounding areas facing homelessness.

The church said the donated items would be handed to anyone who came to the church's doors and the front door ministry.

According to the church's post, hats, scarves, gloves, earmuffs, hand warmers, blankets, socks, backpacks, emergency sleeping bags, and microwaveable soup were among the items requested.

The donated items could be delivered to the church on Sunday mornings. It could also be left outside the main office conference room, according to the church.

'Love First' Sermon Series

Despite the Pride Parade and Festival cancellation this year, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church's "Love First" sermon series began on Sunday, Oct. 10.

Atlanta First United Methodist Church announced on Facebook. According to the church, the church's "Love sermon" series taught people how to love their neighbors.

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church said the occasion was marked by "a lot of love."

According to the church, Rev. Jasmine Smothers delivered the sermon series. The service was streamed live on the Atlanta First United Methodist Church's Facebook page.
