Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati, Ohio, will hold an Epiphany procession with an organ recital of Daniel Grotz on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 5 p.m.

Epiphany Procession

Christ Church Cathedral invited the community to join them for a service that will consist of Scripture readings, prayers, musical performances, and pageantry that will reflect on the three mysteries associated with Epiphany.

The mysteries include the revelation of the Christ child to the Magi, the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, and the transformation of water into wine at the wedding in Cana.

According to the church’s announcement, the following pieces of music will be performed by the choir: Glory to the Christ Child, Christus est Stella, Set Me as a Seal, Vidi aquam, Cana's Guest, O sacrum convivium, and Now There Lightens Upon Us.

The service begins at 4:30 p.m., but before this, there will be a concert on the organ given by an organ scholar named Daniel Grotz.

Daniel Grotz received his early musical training in Culpeper, Virginia, where he was born and raised. He began studying the piano at the age of eight.

When Daniel arrived at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, he discovered Westminster Presbyterian Church, which had a wonderful early Taylor and Boody organ inside of it. After joining the choir, he got a good look at the organist performing up close, and from that point on, he was hooked.

Per the announcement, after getting the job and becoming a member of the Episcopal church, he decided to pursue music full-time and began teaching piano lessons, accompanying choirs like the Virginia Consort and the Virginia Women's Chorus, and playing piano for soloists who were mostly college students in addition to playing the organ at the church.

At the moment, Daniel is working in the role of Organ Scholar at Christ Church Cathedral.

About Christ Church Cathedral

For more than two centuries, the Christ Church Cathedral has been a parish that tends to both the spiritual and material requirements of the city of Cincinnati. It wasn't until 1993 that the church was officially designated as the Cathedral for the entire Diocese.

After serving its community for so many years as a parish church, Christ Church is now maturing into its new position as a Cathedral.

According to the website, they have new leadership, and now that they are in charge of this duty, they are prepared to step up their game and take on greater challenges.

In keeping with their community's tradition, they are prepared to carry on the Way of Jesus by addressing the most pressing issues of the modern world.

The congregation at Christ Church Cathedral cares for one another regardless of socioeconomic status, age, or race. They want to provide for one another and the world beyond the church through their time, talent, and money, as stated.
One of the ministries offered by Christ Church is the 5000 Club food ministry, which started in the spring of 2006 with the intention of providing the hospitality of a weekly evening meal to individuals who live in the area, especially those who do not have a place to call home.
