Booker T. Washington established the Tuskegee University "Golden Voices" Concert Choir (GVCC) in 1886 in order for the choir to direct vesper services and other events that took place on campus.

In addition to holding weekly chapel services, it now operates as an ambassadorial organization with the mission of using choral music to spread awareness of the illustrious history and legacy of Tuskegee University.

According to Tuskegee University, the group's popularity grew after it was invited to perform at prestigious locations and began making radio and television appearances.

In honor of the Selma film's premiere, Grammy winner John Legend and Oscar nominee Common invited the GVCC to perform with them.

The highly acclaimed choir is currently continuing its trip across the country to perform.

About Corinthian Baptist Church

Christians in the Avondale area had been meeting informally at members' houses for worship since 1868, when they finally saw the need to build a church. The Council of Baptist Churches officially recognized a church.

The New Colored Orphans Home on Van Buren Street was the site of the inaugural church session, and the first pastor was Rev R. W. Scott.

They became known as the First Baptist Church of Avondale from mid-1870 to 1908, under his pastorate.

Due to postal issues and its proximity to First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills, the church changed its name from First Baptist Church of Avondale to Corinthian Baptist Church.

According to the church’s history, the church completed the purchase of more than 30 acres of land on Reading Road in Bond Hill on October 22, 2010. They had their Land Dedication and Community Celebration from Sep. 3 to 4, 2011.

The ceremony to break ground on the new building was performed on July 30, 2016, while construction on the building itself began on Oct. 18, 2017.

They are confident that the Corinthian Baptist Church will continue to be blessed by the heavenly Father as long as they continue to worship God in spirit and in truth and develop in the grace and knowledge of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Corinthian Baptist Church is a self-sufficient community of Christians that acts as Bond Hill's spiritual and economic gateway.
