The First Colony Church of Christ will soon host another "Movies Under The Moon Event."

'Movies Under the Moon'

As per its Facebook page, the event is set from 7:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, at the Sugar Land Town Square. The movie that will be featured in this event is 'Sing 2,' a 2021 sequel to the 2016 animated musical comedy of the same title.

Movies Under the Moon events happen Saturday evenings once a month. The church holds the event with the aim of meeting with the neighbors, serving them, and giving families a fun night out.

First Colony Church of Christ

First Colony Church of Christ is a church that honors God and leads people to a growing relationship with God. The church is eager to gather groups of people and grow them into lifelong, enthusiastic followers of Jesus.

The church values Jesus as its Lord and Savior and the Bible as its literary authority.

The church has multiple ministries that cater to children, students, women, and men. They also have a community outreach wherein they partner with organizations to touch people's lives. 

The outreach attends charitable events, clean-ups, and other activities wherein they can extend a hand while being a pathway to Christ.

The First Colony teams up with organizations such as Arms of Hope, FriendSpeak, Hearts & Hammers, and Movie Under The Moon, to name a few.

Beyond the community, the church also has mission trips all over the world. 

The church sends families and individuals several times a year for short-term missions locally and abroad. As of now, the church has missions in Honduras, Haiti, Columbia, Uganda, and Nepal. 

Ronnie Norman is the Senior Minister and Shepherding Elder of the church. 

Pastor Norman's life is intertwined with the church as he was present in the church's first official worship service back on June 2, 1985. He has an undergraduate Bible degree from the Freed-Hardeman University and a graduate degree from the Abilene Christian University.

The church also has Elder Rocky Hudson serving the congregation. Hudson has been the Staff Elder of the church for five years and is passionate about continuing his service through evangelism and discipleship.

Sing 2

As per IMDB, Sing 2 is a 2021 animated musical written and directed by Garth Jennings. The movie features the voices of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, and more.

The movie is the continuation of the story of Buster Moon and his company and their quest to find stardom in Redshore City. 

During their adventures, they meet the reclusive rock star, Clay Calloway (voiced by Bono of U2), as they try to recruit him to their show.

According to The Wrap, Sing 2 features a soundtrack that has everything from classic rock to pop music. 

Can't Feel My Face by the Weeknd, bad guy by Billie Eilish, Boyfriend by Justin Bieber, I say a Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin, and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by U2 are just some of the songs featured in the movie.

The movie has plenty of nominations from the PGA Awards, Visual Effects Society Awards, and Kids' Choice Awards.
