A local pastor in a Houston church recently pleaded guilty to a sexual assault case. This was related to his 2019 case involving a 30-year-old woman, who was allegedly one of his victims when she was 15 years old.

The Restoration Outreach Christian Church Pastor Soon in Jail

As first reported via ABC 13, on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 61-year-old Conrad Estrada Valdez pleaded guilty in a local court. He was charged with a sexual assault case involving his victims, ranging between 14 to 17 years old.

The pastor was one of the leaders at The Restoration Outreach Christian Church in Houston, Texas.

Valdez was formally charged by the court to 14 years in prison after his admission to the crime. There were no more details about his detainment process in the report.

30-Year-Old Versus Valdez

According to a similar report, one of Valdez’ victims is now a 30-year-old woman. The unnamed woman reportedly went to the police in 2019.

She then accused Pastor Valdez of sexual assault that she personally experienced when she was 15 years old. She told the authorities that the pastor had been a mentor to her and a family friend.

However, the crime started when the victim went to Pastor Valdez after experiencing a similar sexual assault case. She did not know that the pastor also used that opportunity to allegedly touch her inappropriately.

According to her narration, the inappropriate touches from the pastor suddenly led to sexual intercourse between them. When asked why she did not report him at the time, the victim told the police that Pastor Valdez allegedly threatened her.

After 15 years, she said that she made up her mind to report Valdez after watching a sexual assault documentary.

Pastor Valdez no longer said anything to the press about his charges. His church in Houston also did not release any statements about their pastor.

Texas Sexual Assault Vs. Minor Laws

According to the Defense Law Houston website, once a sexual assault in Texas is filed against an individual, it could be considered a second-degree felony. The crime is punishable from two to 20 years imprisonment.

All sexual activities that involve a person under 17 are punishable by Texas law. The law states that the specific statute is gender-neutral.

Once an individual is charged with the said sentence, he will also be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
