Seattle Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett bagged the victory against Houston Texans with 33-13. Lockett eclipsed a 142-yard and 55-yard touchdown in five receptions. Furthermore, he is now in line with the Hall of Famer, who accomplished that feat twice, Steve Largent.
Lockett said, “Ultimately, I just thank God for even putting me in this position.” He said God's things in his life are more incredible than what he has achieved.
His Victory
Sports Spectrum reported, Lockett stated, “The best stories come when God is able to create the story and tell the story rather than me as an individual trying to tell my own story.”
Before his victory last Sunday, he received awards off the field like the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award nominee. He was also a nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, given only to players who volunteer for charity work.
Last year’s awardee of NFL Man of the Year, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, said that Lockett is a man that demonstrates what is good and is a really fantastic teammate to everyone.
Wilson continued Tyler works hard for the game and uses his talent to serve and tremendously impact others. So, he thought there was no other man better for the award but Lockett.
His Faith
Lockett’s faith is the source of all his work for the people. His Instagram bio shows his perspective about faith, ‘I’m done building my own Kingdom. I’m here to only build God’s Kingdom!’
Tyler often posts about his faith on social media, “My faith in God drives me.” He said he could sit and do everything, but what will make him happy, humble, and content is doing something more significant for others at the end of the day.
He said when people have faith in God; there is nothing to worry about in life. He said there is no point in trusting someone who created humans and has an excellent plan for everyone.
His Foundation
Lockett is an active Oklahoman in the community with his foundation, Light It Up Foundation. It provides scholarships and job opportunities to locals. Also, it raises awareness about Black history, such as the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
According to the Seahawks, Lockett’s foundation donated more than $32,000 worth of food, shoes, and clothing to Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless this year. This day center provides help for homeless people.
He also gave $6,000 to Domestic Violence Intervention Services, a nonprofit organization that serves intervention and prevention to men, women, and children domestic and sexual abuse.
Tyler also established a college scholarship program in 2021, giving away $34,000 to seven chosen students for the academic year 2021-2022.
These students were admitted to schools like Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Tennessee State University, Oral Roberts University, Wichita State University, and Tulsa Community College.
Lockett identified youth sports associations that excel through the Youth Sports Leadership Initiative and those who will benefit from the donation. He identified three of these organizations, receiving $21,000 in Adidas uniforms.
