The Windwood Church hosted a small group event for Christian Songwriters In The Round.
CSR Small Group
According to the Facebook announcement, the group met on Wednesday, November 9, in the church's choir room.
It had Christian writers, lyricists, worship leaders, and music lovers meeting for prayer, devotions, fellowship, and music. It was also an opportunity for people to share their original songs for critique.
Windwood Church
On the Windwood Church page, it says that it "exists to glorify God and make disciples by sharing the truth of God's Word to connect our community to Christ and each other."
The church follows what it calls its 'four marks of Christ-centered living' which include:
- Clarity of faith
- Commitment to Grow Closer to Christ through Worship
- Christ-like Character at Every Age
- Community Involvement in the Church, Local and Global Missions
The church follows the Great Commission, as stated in the Book of Matthew.
The commission comes from Jesus Christ and instructs the disciples to baptize and make disciples of all nations. Windwood Church uses the commission as a basis for its Statement of Faith.
According to the church, it started in 1962 with only 24 members. The church would steadily grow into a family of faith known for its diversity. Over the years, the church would move from place to place until it settled at Spring Cypress Road.
Previous Affiliation with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and Views of Human Sexuality
The church said it left the Presbyterian Church (USA) or PC(USA) as it rejected Biblical standards regarding human sexuality.
On the church page, it says that it believes that it is an important part of the union of a couple, but that sex outside the covenant is a sin.
The church says that the Bible specifically calls fornication, adultery, homosexuality, and bestiality as a sin.
It adds that the church expects its members to 'strive to live within the bounds of fidelity in marriage between a man and woman or chastity in singleness.'
Rev. Dr. William Lincoln Adams III
The church has Rev. Dr. William Lincoln Adams III as its new senior pastor. Prior to his post, he led the Trinity United Presbyterian Church (ECO) as its senior pastor.
He has a degree in Communication Arts from Allegheny College. He also finished a Master of Divinity Degree from Pittsburg Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.
In his address to the church, he said that he answered God's calling after his career in the corporate world.
He would then serve churches in various capacities while getting his degrees for a pastoral career. He is also an experienced missionary who has served in Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Israel/Palestine, to name a few.
Christian Songwriters In The Round
According to the Christian Songwriters In The Round Facebook page, it is an organization that unites Christian musicians and writers.
The group meets monthly at the Windwood Presbyterian church to hone their skills. On the page of Local Houston Music, the group has compilations of their music for people to watch.
