About Archdiocese of Miami
Based on its website, the Archdiocese of Miami was established in 1968 but was first created in 1958 as the Diocese of Miami and was presided over by Bishop Coleman F. Carroll.
Moreover, on the Archdiocese's 10th anniversary, its radio and TV department was the first diocesan agency in the state to launch it in schools and parishes.
Accordingly, in 1980, the Archdiocese established a pastoral center for Haiti and Cuban refugees. The pastoral center was eventually called the Pierre Toussaint Center, which catered to all the needs of Miami's diverse population.
Also, the Archdiocese gathers proceeds to be donated to the affected dioceses across the United States due to the circumstances experienced by other dioceses in the state.
In present times, it reportedly gives sponsorship to two universities, including St. Thomas University and Adrian Dominican-run Barry University, and serves over 200 dioceses in the state.
