The Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church in Pembroke Pines has recently issued an applicant call for the rector position.

Interested applicants may submit their application requirements to the Rev. Canon Jason Roberson at jason@diosef.org.

Such requirements include a cover letter, updated OTM profile, and resume.

The deadline for the submission of applicants will be on Feb. 23.

Rector Position

According to a press release from the Episcopal News Service, the Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church is looking for a full-time rector for the church.

Due to the epidemic, they had to put their search for a new rector on hold.

However, now that the pandemic has passed, they are prepared to resume their path toward finding a priest.

As stated, the church finds a priest that will build on the profound spiritual growth and insight they have experienced amid adversity brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

They are looking for a rector faithful to the Anglican faith and tradition. At the same time, they can appeal to the next generation of young Episcopalians and those searching for Christ for the first time.

Also, the next rector must be kind and a pastoral shepherd who cares for the souls of those struggling to deal with life's profound joys and tragedies.

As mentioned, the qualified applicant should motivate and instruct using preaching that provokes thought and teaching founded on scripture.

Moreover, he should fully comprehend and value the significance of a thriving and active music ministry (especially in a multi-ethnic community such as South Florida) and technology's role in the church.

In addition, he accepts evangelism efforts wholeheartedly. He is ready to take part in and guide the spiritual direction of the church's missions.

The candidate should work effectively with people with a range of talents and foster leaders for the job that needs to be done, all to the greater glory of God.

Also, he should be an exceptional communicator and administrator, particularly amid periods of intense conflict or rapid change.

Additionally, the rector applicant should be an excellent custodian of the physical campus, which includes its many buildings, other assets, and financial resources.

Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church

In March of 1956, Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church began as a mission, and by 1979 it had developed into a fully functioning parish.

The church initially held its services in the Mahan Building, located at 63rd Ave. and Filmore St. in Hollywood, Florida.

Those services were reportedly held there for around two years. A 10-acre piece of land in West Hollywood, which serves as the church's current location, was acquired the same year, in 1959.

Before the church, the parish hall and two buildings for the church school were built on the property in the early 1960s; services were held under a tent until those buildings were ready.

In 1979, the Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church Academy, a day school that included a preschool and a kindergarten, first opened its doors to the community.

After another five years, in 1984, the first grade was introduced, followed by one stage per year for the subsequent four years.
