Trinity CME Church of Miami
On its church page, it says that Trinity CME Church of Miami “promote the Christian values of loving God and humanity.”
As a member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal denomination, it believes in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It also believes in the life, crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It also believes in the “communion of saints, forgiveness of sins, resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.”
According to its page, the church’s roots can be traced back to 1923 when members of the Colored Methodist Episcopal aimed to establish a church in Miami.
The church had Rev. J.L. Butler as its minister. At the start, the church held services at the Dunbar Elementary School, mainly because of the hurricane that destroyed the foundation already established by the church in 1926.
In the same year, the church became an official member church of the C.M.E. General Conference with Rev. Pinkney as the official first appointed pastor of the church.
The church grew its congregation and facilities over the years and by 1960, it bought the church of the Lutheran Methodist Church. The sanctuary would later be the venue for the 1966 General Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
Even during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the church continued to fulfill its mission during the time of restrictions. It transitioned itself to a virtual ministry that reached out to the congregation through Zoom and Facebook Live.
