An Orlando mom recently praised God for bringing her alive amid her fight against COVID-19.

Young Mom Beats COVID-19

Paola Gambini from Orlando was at her last phase of pregnancy when she suddenly felt trouble breathing, WFLA reported.

Her fiance, Michael Hazen, immediately called 911 at the time. As reported, Gambini was first transferred at Orlando Health’s Winne Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies.

There, her baby was born under an emergency C-section operation. Her newborn baby daughter was named Lilliana Hazen.

Unfortunately, after her complicated operation, Gambini was not yet able to visit her newborn. It was found that the new mother suffers from COVID-19.

After that, the Orlando hospital decided to transfer her to its Regional Medical Center. Gambini was asked to stay in the unit for about 85 days.

Since July, her fiance, Michael, did not stop visiting her throughout her stay in the hospital. Thanks to various types of treatment, Gambini finally saw her daughter for the first time in September.

In the report, the young mom said that she felt at ease after seeing her daughter. During that time, she was also able to go outside and get fresh air.

Although Gambini finally saw her daughter, she was not able to hold her. After all, her condition could still threaten the health of the baby.

Mom Finally Gets Complete Recovery

Despite months of staying in the hospital without her newborn, on Oct. 22, Gambini’s doctors finally signed her up for complete recovery.

According to the Amomama report, the patient was also able to walk the finish line banner at the local hospital using her walker. At the time, Gambini praised God for letting her reunite with her daughter.

She cited how everyone told her fiance that she would not make it. But, Michael reportedly did not lose faith that her fiance was coming home to them.

Gambini added: “I did everything to have our baby. God brought me back to her.”

In her interview, the young mom also gave thanks to her family for always being there for her, despite her near-death calls. On a Fox 35 Orlando video, Gambini was seen finally holding her daughter alongside her fiance, Michael.

As of now, it was clarified that Gambini is still a COVID-19 outpatient. This means she could do the other treatments at home with the help of her family.

Can Newborns Get COVID-19 From Mothers?

As per the recent report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there is a chance of babies getting COVID-19 from mothers.

However, the rate is low. The CDC explained that pregnant mothers who are practicing COVID-19 guidelines such as wearing masks could lessen the chances.

Similar to Gambini’s case, the CDC also found out that pregnant mothers, positive with COVID-19, have more chances of giving birth early.

In other cases, some newborn babies are tested positive for the virus. Unfortunately, CDC has not yet found out whether the baby took the virus during, before, or after birth.
