Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church in Atlanta to host candlelight yoga

The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, is set to host a candlelight yoga on its chapel on Sunday, Oct. 30.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Oct. 29, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church announced that it would hold a candlelight yoga from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

According to the post, the yoga instructor will be Douglas Johnson, who will also lead in yin yoga practice.

The church said the class will be followed by a relaxing meditation and may even do a little kirtan singing.

The class will be accessible for everyone, including the beginners, according to Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church.

The participants are also encouraged to bring a friend, it added.

The church, however, noted that attendees must sign up for a reservation slot.

They will also be required to wear face masks during the class, it added. The yoga practice will cost $20, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church.

Yoga Practice

The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church earlier held a yin yoga practice and relaxing meditation in its chapel last Friday, Sept. 24.

According to the church, the yin yoga practice and calming meditation were taught by yoga instructor Douglas Johnson.

The church also stated that facemasks and health standards must be followed during the yoga session.

Church's Worship Service

According to the church's website, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church believes that individuals who come will find deep hospitality, chances for growth, a call to serve, and a sense of belonging.

The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church said the public is welcome to attend.

Meanwhile, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church announced that its Sunday worship will be webcast live on Facebook at facebook.com/opcbrookhaven at 11 a.m.

According to the church, earlier services can be found at opcbrookhaven.org/worship-at-home.

Families, Children are Welcome

Meanwhile, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church noted on a statement that several families desire to bring their children to church with them

The church said children are also welcome to play in the sanctuary's play area.

This play area has children's books and movable workstations with crayons that may be taken anywhere in the sanctuary. The church's nursery is always available, although it is never used.

A child care professional and at least one member of the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church will volunteer to staff the nursery every Sunday.

The church underscored that everyone who works with children is subject to the child safety policy.

According to the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, children from the nursery are brought into the sanctuary for time with young disciples.

The church service usually starts at 11 a.m. and lasts an hour. The Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church's website stated that an usher would direct a bulletin explaining the order of worship as those attendees enter the sanctuary, according to the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church's website.

If participants want to follow along on the screen, the church also projects the service information.

According to the church's statement, the ushers and greeters are pleased to answer any questions about the worship session that participants may have.
