The Cypress United Methodist Church is inviting kids to attend its 2022 vacation Bible school.

Make Waves

As per All Events, the five-day Bible school is set from Monday to Friday, June 13-17, at the church premises. For this year, the theme is "It's Time to Make Waves," and will feature activities, lessons, and the Word of God.

According to the announcement, the program aims to teach kids that their actions today can change the world around them. The program has a focus on putting one's trust in Jesus to "make waves."

The event is open for four-year-olds to 5th graders with a registration fee of $10, inclusive of a shirt.

Cypress UMC

The Cypress United Methodist Church is a church that is in ministry to build bridges and create a community connecting people to Jesus.

The church has five core values:

  • Be authentic in relationships
  • Reclaim worship as a lifestyle
  • Develop a missional approach to life and ministry
  • Grow partnerships with parents to disciple kids
  • Encourage spiritual growth

Dr. Tony McCollum is the senior pastor of the church. His teachings, as well as the teachings of the other speakers, are available on the church's video library.

The church has multiple ministries that cater to kids, youth, adults, and seniors. In Cypress Kids, the church partners with families to help their children with their faith journey.

The ministry connects kids to Jesus and other children, as well as inspires them to own their faith.

The ministry also meets every Sunday morning and has three separate groups for nursery, two to five-year-olds, and elementary children. Christie Erwin is the director of the children's ministry.

United Methodist Church

Cypress UMC is a part of the Methodist denomination. As per the denomination's page, the Methodists share a common heritage with Christians.

Apart from the Bible, the church follows the "Confession of Faith of The Evangelical United Brethren Church."

The confession includes the beliefs of the church when it comes to God, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, The Holy Bible, and The Church, among other things.

According to Brittanica, the denomination was formed in Dallas, Texas, back in 1968 by the union of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

The church practices episcopal governance with five jurisdictions that cover the U.S. In 2018, the church had a global membership of over 12.5 million.

The denomination can trace its roots to John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement in England.

At the age of 35, he made it his life mission to proclaim the good news everywhere. However, the Church of England turned him away, and he went to religious societies, creating a movement in the process.

Other Upcoming Cypress UMC Events

The church is also slated to hold its "Navigating the Waters" event at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, at the Ministry Activity Center. The event features Bishop Scott Jones, who will discuss the future plans of the church in a Q&A format.

Cypress UMC is also holding a Kids' Scavenger Hunt for preschoolers and their parents on Sunday, June 5. The event features a scavenger hunt in the church playground and pizza for all.
