The Dayton United Methodist Church recently held its 47th annual luncheon anniversary for the staff and members of the Dayton Independent School District.

Bluebonnet News said the event happened on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the Dayton Community Center.
The article said that the event presented guests with a taco salad meal, desserts, drinks, and vendor booths that were set us all over the lobby.
Jessica Johnson, the superintendent of the DISD and a church member, said that the event started as a potluck dinner and has grown over the years to what it is today.
Reportedly, the event served over 800 DISD employees. Also, even retirees of the school districts came to the event to enjoy the luncheon.
According to the article, the teachers of DISD started donating food to the First United Methodist Church of Dayton Food Pantry to give back to the church.
The event was made possible with the help of AConner Realty, Allegiance Bank, First Liberty National Bank, Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, and more.

Ptr. Guy Williams is the leader of FUMC- Dayton. Apart from him, the church has a staff of people such as Brenda Henscey, Laura Dcamp, Margaret Black, and more.
The church has multiple ministries that provide something for each member of the family.
The church also has a children's ministry that teaches children about God and how the Gospel applies to their lives. It has teachings, small group classes, summer programs, and more.
It also has ministries for students, women, and men.
Also, for those who would like to be an active part of the church for its mission for the congregation and the community, it has the caring ministry, outreach ministry, and bereavement ministry.
United Methodist Church
The United Methodist Church is a denomination that shares "a common heritage with all the Christians." However, the denomination also follows The Book of Discipline as it contains its statement of beliefs.
It believes in the Holy Trinity of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The church also believes that the Bible is the "primary authority" when it comes to the church's faith and practice.
The denomination started in 1968, but it traces back its roots historic Methodist Movement of John and Charles Wesley.
According to the church's history, the foundation of the church was caused by the merger of The Evangelical United Brethren Church and The Methodist Church. Both the Christian traditions had their own histories and influences.
