After canceling Thanksgiving last year due to COVID-19, some local churches and organizations will resume free in-person Thanksgiving meals for individuals in need. Traditional Thanksgiving dishes, such as turkey, dressing, potatoes, and pie, are served through the menu of different groups.

According to Leader Publications, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Windsor Baptist Church, located at 6701 Highway 61-67 near Imperial, will host an in-person community Thanksgiving supper on Nov. 25.

From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the First Baptist Church of De Soto, located at 2000 Grace Way, will provide a free Thanksgiving Day supper until 1 p.m. Participants can also request curbside service. Meals can be delivered to anyone who lives inside the De Soto city limits, and the registration deadline is Nov. 24, as per the report.

Organizations

At 5 p.m., the CIA (Community Improvement Association) will host its annual covered-dish Thanksgiving potluck supper. On Friday, Nov. 19, at 13468 Highway, at the C.I.A. Hall. JJ is located southeast of De Soto, the article mentioned.

There will be turkey, dressing, and potluck food. Doors will open at 4 p.m., with country music starting at 6 p.m. Participants are urged to bring a dish to share for the potluck, as per the announcement.

In Pevely, the Jefferson County Rescue Mission, 8943 Commercial Blvd. (Hwy. 61-67), will not host an in-person feast. Still, according to Louise Sardo, the organization's co-founder and director, the report bared that it will provide Thanksgiving food baskets to its regular clients and anyone in need.

People may still register and pick up a dinner basket.

Windsor Baptist Church

At Windsor Baptist Church, they aim to faithfully follow and make disciples of Jesus Christ by elevating Him above ourselves, supporting others in their Christian walk, and engaging the world with the gospel of Christ, as per the church website.

They exalt Christ above themselves by assembling to hear His message and worship Him through the power of the Holy Spirit, all the while encouraging others to believe in the excellent news of His love for Christians, the about page revealed.

They use Life Groups to encourage people in their Christian walk. Their purpose is to promote someone else in their religion in the same way they support their fellow Christians, the site mentioned.

They reach out to the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through community events, service opportunities, and outreach initiatives in the hopes of converting others to be loyal disciples of Christ, the page revealed.

First Baptist Church DeSoto

The gospel of Jesus Christ is at the center of First Baptist Church DeSoto's worship meetings, groups, service opportunities, and daily lives, as per the church site.

The gospel is that God sent His only son, Jesus, into the world to experience its brokenness, be tempted like people, live a completely obedient life, and die a sacrificial death on the cross, the church site mentioned.

This is excellent news because, because of Jesus, people can now be pardoned, set free, and assured of their resurrection when Christ returns to establish His reign on the earth a second time, the page revealed.
