Elevation Church of St. Louis is encouraging everyone to know more about the significance of Prayer and Fasting as a Christian by creating a section on their official website about it.

Significance of Prayer and Fasting as Christians

According to the official website of Elevation Church, if someone has a sense that God has bigger plans for their lives, prayer and fasting are fantastic places to start believing Him for what He has in store for His people.

As per the same website, it is also mentioned that as they practice seeking Him first, He will intervene on their behalf in ways they have never seen before. They will begin to see the power of prayer in their relationships, careers, families, and every other aspect of their lives.

Referring to the same website, the goal of fasting is to get closer to God. Biblical fasting removes distractions for a spiritual cause; it refreshes people’s souls and renews them from the inside out.

In line with that, it is also stated that it helps people to delight in God's goodness and prepare people's hearts for the wonderful things He has in store for them. Their fast should be difficult, but they must also know their body, seek God in prayer, and do what the Holy Spirit leads them to do.

Different Types of Fast

Based on the official website of Elevation Church, there are four different kinds of fasts, namely:

  • Partial Fast. This fast, also known as the Jewish Fast, is refraining from eating any form of food in the morning and afternoon. This can refer to certain periods of the day, such as 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., or it can refer to the period from sunrise to sunset.
  • Selective Fast. This sort of fast entails eliminating particular foods from their diet. The Daniel Fast is an example of a selective fast in which them avoid eating meat, sweets, or bread in favor of water, juice, and fruits and vegetables.
  • Soul Fast. This fast is popular among persons who have little experience fasting food, who have health difficulties that prevent them from fasting food, or who want to refocus particular elements of their life that are out of balance. For example, someone may opt to abstain from using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast, and then carefully reintroduce that aspect into their life in an organized manner at the end of the fast.
  • Compete Fast. This fast requires only liquids to be consumed, generally water with the possibility of mild juices.
