Faith Oakville encourages congregation to serve, help flood-affected St. Louis community

Faith Oakville encouraged its church family to consider becoming volunteers for Samaritan's Purse U.S. Disaster Relief on Saturdays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1. They will help the community suffering from the flood.

Aid to Community

Faith Oakville Church provided details about the service experience opportunity with Samaritan's Purse. It shared the details via Facebook.

According to the announcement, all volunteers should bring their work boots, old clothes, and a happy mood as they deliver hope to all who need help. The orientation will be held before work in the community.

It will be at 7:30 in the morning or 12:30 in the afternoon at First Baptist Ferguson. All volunteers must bring a bagged lunch, water, and hand sanitizer.

Faith Oakville stated volunteers must be at least 14 or older. Parents or legal guardians must accompany youth ages 14-15. At the same time, an adult chaperone must accompany the youth ages 16-17.

Samaritan's Purse, U.S. Disaster Relief

According to its website, Samaritan's Purse mobilizes and equips thousands of volunteers. These volunteers give emergency aid to United States victims of wildfires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other natural calamities.

Samaritan's Purse often stays behind in the aftermath of major storms. Volunteers rebuild houses for people with nowhere else to get help.

The Samaritan's Purse website also provided information regarding U.S. relief in St. Louis, MO. Volunteers will help homeowners affected by the recent flood.

The website stated that they would help in Jesus' Name with mud outs and debris removal. Overnight volunteers are required to stay for a minimum of three days. Samaritan's Purse provides opportunities for overnight and day volunteers. Locals can serve for a day. It also welcomes both team and individual volunteers.

Youth groups may serve with Samaritan's Purse. However, they are required to accomplish a Youth Leader Covenant.

The organization asked volunteers to read its Youth Policy.
