Hope United Church of Christ celebrates Harvest Home Sunday with non-profit organization

Harvest Home Sunday will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20, during both services at the church. It encouraged all to participate in the celebration as it partnered with Isaiah 58 Ministries. 

Harvest Home Sunday Celebration

Hope United Church of Christ announced details about Harvest Home Sunday. The church provided the details through its Facebook page. It partnered with Isaiah 58 Ministries. 

The partnership will provide fresh produce for families in need. Donations will be accepted during Harvest Home Sunday during the 8:15- and 10:30-services. Hope United Church of Christ provided a list of suggested donations.

The list includes green peppers, sweet potatoes, onions, and Collard Greens. Other suggested food items are russet potatoes, apples, oranges, corn, celery, cabbage, and green beans. 

Isaiah 58 Ministries 

According to its website, Isaiah 58 Ministries serve as a bridge for services and resources to people in need. It facilitates and strengthens partnerships among restaurants, grocers, churches, businesses, volunteers, and local health providers with South St. Louis residents. 

Isaiah Ministries advocates for the poor. Therefore, it restores dignity and hope. It strives to show people acceptance for who they are, wherever they are in life. It is committed to a non-discrimination policy. Education is another mission of this non-profit organization. 

Isaiah Ministries teaches nutrition and health through tested programs like “Cooking Matters.” It also offers life-skills training. Furthermore, it helps its clients through counseling services, spiritual direction, and recreational experiences for participants. 

It also provides hunger and poverty simulation education for volunteers who join us for immersion and mission experiences.

It is made of all the churches within the area that has such designation-open and affirming. Hope UCC is an affiliation of the national and regional UCC organizations. According to the church, UCC is a mainline Protestant Christian denomination. 

It added it has more than 5,000 churches and almost one million members across the United States. According to its Facebook page, one may visit Hope United Church of Christ at 6273 Eichelberger St., St. Louis. Pastor Sarah McCann has been serving the church since 2002.
