St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church’s Emergency Assistance Program serves its community during the week.

In line with this mission of continuing assistance to those in need, the church requested donations to sustain its area pantry.

Call for Donations

St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church informed its congregation that its area pantry needs donations. The donations will help provide supplies for its Emergency Assistance Program.

Before the service began last Sunday, the church, through its live stream on Facebook, flashed its announcement about donations needed for its area pantry. According to the church, the area pantry needs canned fruit, vegetables, and canned soups but requested healthy versions and canned and dried beans.

It also needs donations of powdered or canned milk, paper products, rice and pasta, diapers/wipes, and quality pet foods. The announcement also reminded everyone that Feed My People pick-up happens every second Wednesday.

According to its website, the Emergency Assistance Program is one of the various ways that St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church uplifts the condition of its community. The church maintains this food pantry near its office.

Additionally, the area has been designated as St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church’s Emergency Assistance Program. During the week, people who need extra help visit the pantry.

The church’s secretary assists them in getting items such as food, toiletries, diapers, and more. Donations from members of the church provide support to the ministry.

The cash donated is used to buy gift cards to Aldi and is given on an as-needed basis. St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church welcomes donations to the Emergency Assistance Program.

Additionally, the Emergency Assistance Program also gives information so clients can find regular community–based food pantries like “Feed My People.” The church, through its Hunger Relief Ministries, partners with the ministry.

The partnership has been happening for several years, and the church is highly involved with the ministry. St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church collects food items for pantries in its community weekly.

All year-round, volunteers from the church provide service at Feed My People.
