Rock Church of St. Louis’ Core Beliefs
According to its official website, The Rock Church has nine core beliefs:
- GOD. The church believes that God is the universe's Creator and Ruler. He has always existed in three different personalities: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one God and co-equal.
- People. People were created in the spiritual image of God to have the same character as Him. They are the most important creation and affection of God.
- ETERNITY. Humans were designed to live indefinitely. They shall either spend eternity apart from God because of sin or they will spend eternity united with God because of forgiveness and salvation.
- JESUS CHRIST. The Son of God is Jesus Christ. By dying on a cross, Jesus lived a sinless human life and sacrificed Himself as the ideal atonement for all people's sins.
- SALVATION. Humanity receives salvation as a gift from God. Self-improvement or good acts will never be enough to make up for everyone’s sins. The minute a person accepts Jesus Christ into his life via faith, he enters eternal life.
- SECURITY FOREVER. The church also believes that Christians are assured of eternal salvation since God offers people eternal life via Jesus Christ. Salvation is sustained by God's mercy and power, not by the Christian's own efforts. This security comes from God's grace and keeping power.
- THE HOLY SPIRIT. They believe that the Holy Spirit's ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by convicting men, regenerating believing sinners, and indwelling, guiding, instructing, and empowering believers for godly living and service during this age.
- THE BIBLE. To all people, the Bible is God's Word. It was authored by human authors with the help of the Holy Spirit's supernatural direction. For Christian beliefs and living, it is the ultimate source of truth.
- THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH. The church believes that the genuine Church is made up of all those who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit through saving faith in Jesus Christ and are joined together in the body of Christ, of which He is the head.
