LifeSpring Christian Church will host a 30-hour famine program for grades 6 to 12 to raise awareness on food insecurity from Feb.25 to Feb.26.

The church’s website revealed that in 30 hours, more than seven thousand children die from hunger. They emphasized that over 76,000 kids residing in the 20 countries in the tristate area suffer from food insecurity.

No Food

According to the same website, junior and high school students would have a fellowship for a night without food to voice out for those who suffer from hunger.

Besides, as posted on the website, they said they would have fun games and challenging activities.

LifeSpring Christian Church noted that it would be a strenuous activity, but it would be worth it.

30-Hour Famine

The World Vision website reveals that when people participate in the 30-Hour Famine, it is an eye-opener for them about global poverty.  The funds collected would bring hope to hungry children.

In addition, the website encouraged people to join in their movement to keep these children alive and feel God’s love.  They invite them to share and give food to those hungry who crave justice.

Global Hunger

In another section, the website revealed that nearly 689 million individuals suffered extreme poverty in 2017. They noted that one child died about every six seconds due to hunger-related reasons 30 years ago.

Moreover, they emphasized that people responded, and the rate of kid’s death has decreased by almost 10,000 every day.

Many organizations have participated in the global movement against hunger and have saved many lives. They pointed out that this achievement is worth celebrating.

More Work

However, the website stressed that though they have achieved a lot of remarkable development, there are still more initiatives to assist people in escaping poverty.

As further explained, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economies and fractures in different countries is a threat to this progress.

The website pointed out that the number of people experiencing hunger doubled due to the pandemic. They added that those who live in poverty also face a lot of struggles, such as not having enough access to healthcare, clean water, or education.

It added that half of the 689 million impoverished individuals live in just five countries. These nations include India, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The 30-Hour Famine emphasized that people could participate in the “kingdom-bringing Jesus” by taking action. As added on the website, they could sacrifice their love and time to care for the hurting.

According to the website, fighting hunger and poverty means giving assurance to the children that they can have proper food. It is about strengthening families with the building blocks of success, like high-quality education, as noted on the website.

In addition, they said that dismantling poverty is about having good job opportunities and being knowledgeable about health and nutrition.
