The church website encouraged its members to participate in this initiative to help them share warmth, food, love, and light with those in need this season. They added that the Walnut Hills staff would join the Crosswalk Church volunteers and COFM site managers to offer the community safe places and warm food.

Assistance

Walnut Hills Baptist Church posted that they need people with computer skills to help them check in and out of their guests. They also need volunteers to work with the health screening for the COVID protocols.

Besides, they mentioned that the volunteers would check temperatures and ask questions upon checking in with the guests. The church stated that they need some members to help them assist their guests with where and how they would store their belongings.

Moreover, the website noted that volunteers would serve meals or pack “to-go” lunches. The website states that they also need people willing to take overnight shifts during their mission.

About Community of Faith Mission

The COFM website revealed that they are an emergency housing program that serves homeless individuals in the greater Williamsburg area. They explained that their partnerships and support from the local faith-based members led them to success.

Moreover, they mentioned that they serve Williamsburg, James City County, and upper York County during the coldest season of the year.

The website highlighted that hundreds of volunteers are willing to help them give hope in places with the most vulnerable people. Also, they are working with local churches, police departments, and municipal social services to assist those affected by homelessness.

The charitable groups also help the organization to disseminate information about the shelter and its services, as further stated on the website.

More importantly, the website stressed that the program’s Board of Directors is passionate about fulfilling its mission. They explained that COFM is a group that serves as a bridge to connect living homeless individuals and find them permanent shelters.

Responsibilities of Shelter Partners

In another section, COFM mentioned that its shelter partners' duties are to offer food, volunteer, and provide financial assistance to the Host partner.

Moreover, as stated on the website, they would also be in charge of creating fellowship, services, and other forms of entertainment for their guests.

The website noted that Walnut Hills Baptist Church is one of the COFM partners.
