Jonathan Sanford, known as the voice of the San Antonio Spurs, recently changed his team to Houston Rockets. Despite the massive change in his career, Sanford expressed his willingness to join the Texas team and said it was "God's timing."

Who Is Jonathan Sanford?

As reported via My San Antonio website, Sanford was known in the NBA for his voice as the San Antonio Spurs announcer. He was popularized due to his "two-shots" line whenever a player was fouled on the court.

Most Spurs fans also knew him for announcing a wedding day entrance to both San Antonio fans. Thus, his name in the team had been memorable for all fans and players of the San Antonio Spurs.

Since 2013, Sanford has been the team's announcer. Unfortunately, in 2018, he decided to let go of his work.

According to the report, Sanford's wife became ill, having cancer at the time. Since his wife, Jennifer, was getting treated in Houston, TX, the family relocated nearby the hospital.

How Jonathan Sanford Got Job in Houston Rockets?

As the Sanford family stayed in Houston, the former announcer left his career in San Antonio. However, it seemed like his work as an announcer did not stop there.

Sanford remembered getting a call from someone offering him the Houston Rockets' announcer job. He said that it was also the time when he was announcing his daughter's high school game.

Before accepting the work, Sanford asked his family if they were okay with him returning to the court. He said that they were all fine with his decision.

Also, he noted that his wife, Jennifer, is now in remission—a decrease in or disappearance of signs and symptoms of cancer.

It's 'God's Timing'

Based on the same report, Sanford believed everything that happened to him was in line with "God's timing." After all, he said that he never expected of returning to his job as an announcer.

"I like to believe it was God's timing maybe that that things worked out the way they did because it just kind of came out of out of left field to me is not something I'd ever even considered before," he said.

There were no particular reports on the religious stand of Sanford. However, as mentioned on his personal LinkedIn profile, he is currently a pulpit minister at Watters Road Church of Christ in Pasadena, TX.

It was also noted that when he was younger, Sanford became a Youth and Family Minister at Southern Hills Church of Christ in Buda, TX. At the time, he was already an announcer for the San Antonio Spurs.

Also, Sanford reportedly graduated from Heritage Christian University— a private bible college in Alabama.

Ironically, his About page on LinkedIn also circled out to his hope of returning to announcing games in the NBA.

"I will not lose faith that somehow a door will open here for me to continue my passion in sports announcing at a level I grew accustomed to within the Spurs organization," he mentioned on his page.
